Allow me to make your day Awesome by showing you the greatest commercial in the history of television. I don't know what I love more, the homo-eroticism with the piano-player (where's his freaking date?), the Mickey Rooney doorman, or how he puts his cologne on by shooting bullets of it all over his skin. This commercial was made BEFORE Death Wish, which actually helps explain the movie. God bless the Japanese.

Kia Soul - "Hamsterdam" - I WANT ONE
I now know my purpose in Life. It is to own this car. (I'm thinking metallic blue or purple.)
I want to rob banks and make cool getaways in this car. I want to be the Hamster Bonnie and Clyde.
If you have this car in a cool color and a larcenous/murderous heart, I am for sale.

Hilarious Luvs commercial - What it's like for an Only Child
Normally I just HATE Diaper companies, but this video is hilarious. It won a Clio. Well done, Luvs!

Sara's Secret
This is one of those "confirm you are 18" videos - so it may not work if you do not have a YouTube account. (There is nothing that will remotely cause you trouble at work.)
My friend Nezemnaya sent it to me - I think it is European, as I cannot imagine the commercial running in America. Maybe in Canada; they are a little sluttier up there, but even then I am doubtful.
[Is it wrong that I spent an hour trying to think of a good Pickle joke? Sigh. I need help]

Greatest NBA Commercial Ever?
Meant to post this the day after the Finals. With those fantastic Black/White "Where Amazing Commercials" the NBA ran this spring, it's good to remember the greatness of long ago. (My favorite part is the lady jumping up and down while sitting in her seat, and of course ending with Jack.)
And for what it's worth, I thought Bill Simmons had an interesting (if somewhat contradictory) take on the place of Kobe and Phil Jackson in the pantheon.

Comfort Wipe - Now you're shittin' in style!
As you're watching this commercial, I'd like you to focus on four "my life is incomplete without knowing!" questions. They are:
1) What "advantages" is the big guy talking about?
2) Why does the older woman pick up an accent as she's talking?
3) Although the commercial seems to strongly indicate that people dispose of toilet paper while standing, let's assume for the sake of argument that the Comfort Stick is going to have a lot in common with its second cousin the Shoehorn. Therefore, would you be any more comfortable using someone esle's Comfort Stick as you would be their tooth brush, deodorant, douche or suppository?
4) FINALLY: Whether you could use this product or not, would you sign a petition promising--under penalty of perjury--to buy it if they changed the name from COMFORT WIPE to POO STICK?

McDLT Commercial - with Jason Alexander
I always thought the McDLT sounded so sophisticated. Not sure I ever had one, though.
Question: even back in '87 or so...was Jason Alexander wearing a rug?

Commercial - Offensive or Not?
No way this commercial would ever fly in America, but I don't find it offensive. I find it kinda funny.
What say you: is my Feminist Gauge in need of some fine tuning?

Bobby Jindal - Governor or Infomercial Guru?
I kinda like Governor Bobby Jindal (his "not ready for prime-time" rebuttal the other night notwithstanding).
However, just a few minutes ago I'm flipping around, and I see Bobby Jindal on C-SPAN. then, I flip again, a find an informercial I've never seen. (Because of Lentils, I cannot watch re-runs, so my favorite Infomercials are verboten.)
Anyway, I see this new infomercial, and suddenly I think, "Hey, is that Bobby Jindal on this infomercial?)
Flip back to C-SPAN, flip back to Infomercial. C-SPAN ......Informerical. ARE THEY THE SAME GUY?
These pictures don't quite tell the story, but I swear to you: on TV, Bobby Jindal and Real Estate Guru Dean Graziosi look VERY similar.

By the way, my extreme bitterness over Kevin Trudeau has taught me well, and I AM NOT endorsing Graziosi. I don't know anything about him, but a simple Google search tells you that, at the very least, many people disagree with his claim to be able to help people make money.
I'm only showing the pics because sitting here right now, flipping back and forth, the similarity is eerie.

One of the Monkeys sent me this commercial. (She was too shy to post it herself. Wonder why.....)
No doubt that it's European!

Nike's innovative Tiger Woods commercials
For a long time, I thought Nike's commercial of Tiger doing tricks with his golf ball was the best. It was understated, fun and amazing.
Then, two years ago, Tiger won the British Open, the first tournament without his dad. Besides putting out a tribute commercial, Nike had this incredibly simple yet touching commercial of a young Tiger winning the British. There was something so pure and innocent about it, and I thought, "That cannot be topped."
However, debuting Sunday afternoon, on Father's Day, Tiger's first Father's Day as a father, was the video below. A Nike spokesperson explained that they wanted to tell a bit of a story, to help explain to people how Tiger got to be the way he is.
With what we knew Sunday, this year's U.S. Open was one of the best ever. With what we now know was going on, Tiger's performance and victory is the best yet.
And it makes this commercial all the more poignant and marmalade.
