Groovy Pumpkins

Jadriana sent me this kick-ass Pumpkin song.  "Blue Moon" is one of the best Oldies songs, and Pumpkins just makes it better!

"Stand back, fancy pants...I show you how to sing a classic....Maestro?"

Cee Lo Green - "F*** You!"

I have been singing this song all night to cheer me up.  There's no getting around it - the lyrics are not safe for work, as it contains swear words.  That said, you might get away with it, as it's so cheerful in the best do-wop fashion. No matter how prudish you are when it comes to swearing. I defy you not to be charmed by Cee Lo's cheerful hatred. (by the way - "Cheerful Hatred" = Best Emo Band Name EVER)

by the way - when Cee Lo sings, "I pity the fool who falls in love with you" the back-up singers pop up and sing, "Oh shit, she's a gold digger.....just thought you should know nigga" - and they do it so cheerfully - it slays me. I know that word is very controversial and all and I'm not trying to litigate it here, but if ever there was a song that would make people smile at innocuous use, it's here.

Lady Gaga - Telephone

Glory jee to bezus - this is the first Lada Gaga video I've ever seen and...whoa. It was recommended to my by a friend of mine, who may or may not need serious psychiatric help. I'm either going to have to write a 3000 word column on Lady G. or else never think about her again as long as I live.

Ducktales - like you've never felt them before

I cannot believe I didn't have this idea years ago.

Okay, this is the Ducktales theme song (from the '80s theme song)

Listen to the song once (just over a minute). These are the lyrics:

Life is like a hurricane
Here in Duckburg
Race cars, lasers, aeroplanes
It's a duck-blur
Might solve a mystery
Or rewrite history

CHORUS:
DuckTales (oooh ooooh)
Every day they're out there making
DuckTales (oooh ooooh)
Tales of daring do bad and good
LuckTales (oooh ooooh)

When it seems they're heading for the
Final curtain
Cool deduction never fails
That's for certain
The worst of messes
Become successes

CHORUS

D-D-D-Danger! Watch behind you
There's a stranger out to find you
What to do? Just grab on to some DuckTales

CHORUS

D-D-D-Danger! Watch behind you
There's a stranger out to find you
What to do? Just grab on to some ...

CHORUS (Twice)

Not pony tales or cotton tales, no
DuckTales (ooh ooooh)

Okay - If you already listened to it, then you're ready for the idea. (I really can't believe I just thought of it - everything lines up PERFECTLY!!!) Here it is. Listen to the song again, sing along, but this time, change every "D" in the word Duck to "F."

I'm not Ducking kidding.

Listen to the song with that in mind.

HOW PERFECT IS THAT?????

Every piece fits!

You'll find yourself humming it at work tomorrow. YOU WILL.

Supersonik Elektronik

Make the Girl Dance (Baby Baby Baby)

Maybe I'm being too hard on the French. After all, they are trying to think "Outside the Box" in their Music Videos.

(Sadly, Sadly, Sadly this video is Safe for Work, but you might not want to watch it when other people are around.)

(I very much recommend the HD if you computer will support it. Some things need to be CRYSTAL clear)

Cat Playing Piano

For Lady Jane Scarlett, and Schrodinger's Kitten, and Tracy Lynn, and all the other insane cat-lovers who somehow see me as cat-nip. (Got this from my oldest sister, another crazy cat lover.)

Peaches - "Talk to Me"

Friend of mine recommended this. Lyrically it is not much, but sonically I was grooving.

Namata - Treasure in You - BAD SONG OF THE DECADE

There is almost no way to describe how bad this video is. Here is the best I have come up with: Imagine Flava Flav and Deangelo had a love child, and he became a singer.

That doesn't come close. The girl isn't even hot! And the dancers, the dancer.....ARE WEARING PIRATE LEGGINGS!!!!!! And the patches on his coat...

[wheezing]

Must stop describing video, or will die of coronary. Only, one more thing: the last thirty seconds are better than the rest of this masterpiece, so make sure you get all the way through! (starts about 3:51 into it.)

Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, Koz and Avitable, may I present: Namata - "Treasure in You"

P.O.D. - Britney Spears

This was Britney's Picture of the Day on her website, so I figured it should be mine, too.

No matter how you feel about her, you have to admit it's a pretty damn good picture.

Child Prodigy

This is a six year old. She plays the piano. better than you.

My only hesitation? There is no "feeling" there, and the pace is wrong. Now, before you harrangue me with "She's only six!" - yes, I understand. I am posting the video, aren't I? I already think she's pretty amazing. But as the son of a concert-pianist, I am aware there is more to piano than just the math. And, I watched some of her other videos, at other ages, up to 11 years old, and it's the same thing. No feeling, and no pacing.

I don't blame her. I blame whoever is teaching her. It's an outrage they wouldn't teach the child pacing and subtlety of the notes. Maybe that only comes with maturity. I'll ask my mom.

Still, she is pretty spectacular to watch.

Girls Aloud - Sound of the Underground

For you ladies, a great way to start the week.

Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians

What I Am - Edie Brickell & New Bohemians

How can something so patently false have captured it so completely?

(And not for nothing, but Edie Brickell, Light bless her is generally NOT an attractive woman. But for some reason, in this video, she makes me want to settle down and have 47 kids with her somewhere in Ireland.)

Ben Kweller - Fight

I only discovered Ben Kweller 20 minutes ago (from Ashton Kutcher!), and already I'm hooked.

(Haven 't listened to the other songs yet, but how can they not be awesome?)

I'm almost sure Kweller is being tongue-in-cheek with his "Gospel" message, but since he plays it straight, it's all the funnier. More importantly: I wanted to hate it (the Ashton thing), but I have listened to the song 4 times already!

My friend Schrodinger will flip a lid, and Lady Jane Scarlett will quite possibly give up her Ryan Adams obsession.

Ladies and Gentlemen: Ben Kweller!
